These findings are the top ten causes of death. Even if the rates were controlled for age, our county would still have higher death rates than the state of North Carolina for most causes of death, with stroke being the exception. Again, the contributing factors may include a higher percentage of minorities, lower income, less formally educated citizens, and older populations. You put those together with a decreased access to health care, and we have factors that may lead to uncontrolled chronic conditions, complications, and even death.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_progress_bar values=”%5B%7B%22label%22%3A%22Cancer%22%2C%22value%22%3A%22263%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22sandy-brown%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Heart%20Disease%22%2C%22value%22%3A%22238%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22bar_blue%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Chronic%20Lower%20Respiratory%20Disease%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2262.5%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22mulled-wine%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Stroke%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2249.7%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22bar_green%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Alzheimer’s%20Disease%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2244.5%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22bar_black%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Diabetes%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2238.5%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22vista-blue%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Kidney%20Disease%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2229%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22chino%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Pneumonia%20%26%20Influenza%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2224%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22purple%22%7D%5D” bgcolor=”chino”][vc_column_text]Source: NC State Center for Health Statistics[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
